newbie friendly weekend spins?

So mainly a runner, but a newbie in these parts. I have my shiny new fancy [road] bike, thanks to the bike to work scheme and want to get it dirty and do some decent spins on it now my goal races for this part of the year are behind me.

I know some folks in cycling clubs [and have the cycling ireland membership FWIW], but is all serious stuff for them at the minute so there does not seem to be any newbie spins going on [where I have looked anyway].

So where am I to find decent newbie friendly spints of a weekend? I did a search here but could not find any 'weekend meetup' type threads? What is the etiquette, or am I forced to find myself a serial killer to cycle with, on meetup.com :D

You see regular enough threads on here, of the type, going for a spin this saturday, starting at X, doing Y KM, at roughtly Z kph, anyone want to join in. Start a thread and chances are someone will join you. At least you'll die in the knowledge that it was a boards psycho that killed you rather than some waster from meetup.com :)

the cycling Ireland membership is for insurance most clubs wont let you ride past your first few spins without it. our club in donegal does an easy spin an intermediate and a nutter spin

I will guess that you are in Dublin, but you don't say. Bikehub in Howth do some newbie spins.

You might also like to post in here in the 'people to cycle with' thread :)

    Clontarf might be your closest?

ThinkBike in Rathmines could also be worth a shout. Very relaxed crew.
