I need to get a brake servo for my Passat but don't know if it's a single chamber or double chamber, whats the best way to find out?

Just by looking at it will tell you. A single servo is just that, and a double one looks like 2 stuck together. Just pull away the plastic covering the scuttle (wiper) panel, and you'll see it easily enough.

my advice would be if you dont know the difference or how to tell then you would be better off sending it to a garage for repair.
