    I've just got one of these for my son on the Vodafone network. I have a SIM card for it but it needs to be activated. In the meantime I connected it to my home Wifi but when I went to the Shop app I got a message stating that it cannot connect using Wifi. Is this the norm for this phone? I would have thought that it would use Wifi no problems.

    Anyone know if there is something I can do to get it to work this way, like upgrading phone and/or Shop app.

    Is it the Google Play store you're trying to open or some Vodafone Shop app? Some of the provider apps only work when connected through the mobile network. You should be able to access Google Play though WiFi.
