Can't get over how depreciation whacks these cars. All but new, fantastic interior and spec. Look at this beauty...

Ya, I do look at a lot of the 7 series used cars and think to myself "surely the parts have got be worth a lot more then what the car is being sold for"...

It's strange that cargiant end up with main dealer cars like these - low miles ! The Current 7 looks far to much like the 5 u really have to get lwb version for real presence

Not strange if they are taking in trades. Perhaps someone wanted a rangerover instead. Hardly trade into a BMW dealer in such circumstances.

i-d say the vrt would be a fair bit on that car though if you were to bring it over

I've seen some F01s below £18,000 already. That's the bottom of the 7 ladder though.

Dont know. Those look manky to me. I still think e38 looks like a PROPER 7 series. The thing we got here looks like all current 4 door beemers, just a bit fatter.

I was only looking at a 05 7-series online earlier as a possible alternative to the A6 I'm not far off buying.

    I know there's a BMW bias on this forum but be objective guys.. 05 3.0 TDI Quattro A6 or 05 3.0 730D? :)

A6 is a class below surely.

Id go BMW every time. Now, make that an Audi A8 and Id be going the other way.

Yea but problem there is to get the "new(er) shape" A8 there's a lot more cash needed.

The 730 of that era doesn't look as objectionable as the equivalent 5 though. What's the reliability like?

Are you sure you're not confusing the 5 and 7 series? :)

Nope .. see it says it right there (as an example) :p

To be honest though I wouldn't really rate the previous gen 5 series anyway (I hate the love-or-hate it styling and it's very cramped for what it is) but a 7 like that isn't bad (with the exception of the reg! I know..I know, but I think a car like that needs the D)

I'm contrasting it to a (almost) fully specced A6 though - automatic, 3L quattro, steering wheel controls, leather, full computer, sunroof, parking sensors, climate control etc but to get a car with ALL of that is such a pain! There's some without the steering controls, or have everything else and then cloth seats?!

I'm not (still) dreaming either.. If all goes to plan my "here's what I bought today" thread will be live in a few weeks! :D

I must admit that 7 looks nice though and as a rule I'm not a fan of cream interiors. But how do they compare from a running costs/reliability side?

I'd assume that's just someone clicked the wrong option on the drop down

I still want to know who buys these bottom of the range diesel 7s and then add €4000 options like integral rear steering.

You'd want to be doing some serious mileage to make that money back on diesel.

Well having done some reading on bmw-driver.net about the E65 model (as per my link above) I think it's cured me of any desire to get one :( / :)

    - electrics are apparently a nightmare
    - gearbox issues (leaking sumps made of plastic?)
    - drink diesel

.. and that's just from skimming the first few pages. Oh well!

    6 pars down
The new BMW 730d is the most frugal, with official stats of 50.4mpg and CO2 emissions of just 148g/km - a reduction of 30g/km versus its predecessor.

For the class it's in that's laughably cheap compared to the older models.
