any tips or anything I need to know before buying a 2010 VTR+ 1.6 Hdi EGS? 41k miles on it, very clean. all the normal checks are done on it.

Dealer is currently getting it ready for collection at the weekend - there's 12 months warranty on it but if there's anything to be checked I'd prefer it to be done before I close the deal...

    thanks

was aware of that - my own mechanic had said to me that with regular servicing then there shouldn't be an issue. he'll also be getting a print out of that thread and wasn't there another one on the same issue recently enough?

    2.0 not an option

EGS - Electronic Gearbox System - automatic / paddle-shifted manual.

Make sure its had the EGS software upgrade, and there's no broken interior trim.

I think these are fairly reliable apart from the potential issues with a poorly maintained 1.6 HDi, as has already been raised. Mind you, a neighbour of mine got one new in 2012 which is a right lemon. It broke down 3 times in the first year, last break down was a timing belt failure!

I recently did about 10k km in a Pug 3008 with the same engine and gearbox.

Engine drove fine for what it was, although it's known for giving some issues. But the gearbox is woeful. Has a complete mind of it's own and an uncanny nack for doing the exact opposite of what you want it to do. I would much rather the manual over it. Fuel economy was pretty poor, whereas my previous car would give me c.50mpg on my commute I was getting closer to 40mpg with that engine and gearbox.

It also didnt want to go into 4th gear at times.

Was delighted when it went back.

Make sure it has a standard coil rear suspension. We have the 2008 exclusive model which has been on its arse for the last 2 weeks due to suspension air bag failure. Car is totally clean 50k km citroen blaming wear and tear. Google search this fault and you will see hundreds of people are affected by this issue and citroen are taking up to 3 months to get these air bags into stock. Plus they won't admit they have any issues with these parts so are refusing to do a recall. They don't use this part anymore but did in some vtr+ models afaik.

    We have a 2009 1.6 manual VTR+
It's been round a France a few times since we got it and overall it's a great car. Reliable economical enough, great for long and short trips. The seating is great and flexible.
    Overall good buy.

Check the date it's over a year old.

Yep, saw that, but noticed recent post and decided to tie those links back to original query.
