Presuming they are a porcelain 60x60 tile, approx €20/€22 sq mtr be best you'd prob get could be slightly more
    I'd get 2-3 quotes

€20 per sq metre to lay porcelain tiles ?! Seriously ?? And how much for a normal tile ?
One of the rooms i have to get done is a large 7m by 5m room - perfectly square with nothing in the way and very little cutting. Based on your figures it would be min €700 for labour. Seems massive

I need to urgently start pricing !!

Porcelain tiles are probably the hardest tile to lay. They are very unforgiving meaning the finished job is either 100% Perfect or 100% wrong. The floor must be level or levelled. When the job is finished you should be able to slide a €2 coin from 1 side of the floor to the other without catching on a tile. €20 is a fair price per sq mtr. Keep in mind that as good as porcelain tiles look...they are extremely dangerous when wet. Make sure the guy has proof of previous porcelain work.

Regarding sliding a coin. Should that not be the case with all tile floors?

Yes but their is a level of forgiven with other tiles in that they dont have such a sharp square edge. With the porcelain tiles, there is really no room for any adjustment. Also with tight joint, any tilt on a tile stands out immediately.

    Just to report back....
Have my tiler. A 'mere' €12 per sq yard. He has actually done work for me before in my current house and it was top class and i know he is always busy. Based on the amount of work to do and the length of time it will take him i'd say he will have about €150 per day.

My problem though ..... he is saying heating should be on for 6 weeks before they are laid but could 'get away with 3 weeks'. This is despite the screed being laser level and it will have been poured about 5 months by the time it comes to laying the tiles with windows in and roof on for about 3 months. This sounds like overkill to me and perhaps a bit of ass-covering on the off-chance of a crack occurring (although its not like he will stand over it if a crack occurs even with the heating having been on for 6 weeks !
    Is it overkill ?!?!
