What after my Galaxy S2?

    Hi all!

I came to Dublin a few months ago (hardly 3) I have a unlocked galaxy S2, it was from the carrier Orange in Spain.

My galaxy S2 is facing a lot of problems, it freezes (while using or stand-by and I almost was late to work 2 times) it loses the network and joins Vodafone IE instead of 3, so the "R" from roaming appears and my data connection turns off (this happens almost everyday, even more than once).

I want to get a new device, but I'm not sure which one... I've had 2 android devices and I'm a little sick and tired of wait for updates.. from Google to the manufacturer, from the manufacturer to the carrier... I'm sure you've suffered that besides nowadays devices have freaking big screens. I had an old iPod and it was so fluent that I'm considering iPhone 5 also.

What do you think? Anyone who has changed from Galaxy S2 to other device??

    Regards!

Have you tried a factory reset on your phone? Or have you tried rooting it and putting a rom on it? I had similar problems wth my first android (running 2.1 I think?) Once I put a different rom on it, it was way better.

Apart from that, for the money I'd go nexus 4

    Hi natnifnolnacs,

Yes, the phone is rooted, unlocked and running Cyanogenmod 9 , but I had it installed since the end of summer and it has worked really well. I'm pretty sure that, since the phone is carrier specific, it has some kind of time bomb. Suspiciously it started to fail a few days after my 18-month contract expired...

Nexus 4 seems to have great price/quality ratio... but i don't like very much the 4.7'' screen... any owner?

If you are handy enough with rooting and Odin etc would you not try install stock jellybean on it? S2 surprisingly runs it very well....

I'm posting from my Nexus 4 now, my personal fave phone on the market ...(personal preference though)

And you will always have updates quicker than everyone else running stock android...

We will be on 4.3 from next week....

Nexus 4 seems to fit pretty well in my needs... it's a pity that ordering in Ireland is so tricky :(... Since tomorrow starts the Google I/O I'll wait, just in case something new appears :D

Yeah I'm in the same boat, S2 is nearly 2 years old, and beginning to show the wear and tears. So I have a request in with Flubit for a Nexus4, provided that there is no new handset announced tomorrow I think I'll bite the bullet and go for it.
