I'm not an expert by any means, I've never hear of those I'm sure they are good bike for that price.
I've just signed up to the BTW and went for the giant defy 2 got it for €999 with a load of extras on top, helmet, jacket, lock, lights, or also Defy 3 is very popular, worth a look Giant have a store on long mile road worth dropping in, across from euro cycles.

    Check out http://www.bikeradar.com/
    They give good reviews.

Corratec are a fairly well known and respected brand and 10 speed tiagra is a good find at that price. I'm not familiar with zzyzx brakes or hubs but everything else looks peachy.

I'm in Tipperary so won't be travelling that far for a bike, but thanks. What spec is the Defy2 btw...you got a good bargain with all the extras thrown in/

Looks fine. Depending on how big you are, you might find the tyres a pain for punctures

I got the 2012 Ultegra version in Eurocycles last Nov for €1199 and I love it.
Fine solid build. The brakes and wheels are fine.

Im glad I went for the Ultegra as its very reliable and I can always upgrade frame later..

This is the nearest to what I have but the exact model seems to be discontinued. The 2013 version seems to be the Dolomiti 105 Comp and it sells around €1250. That's a bit more than I paid but then again mine is a 2011 model which I bought in early 2012. The main criticism I see from people is that they don't like the logo or some of the colour schemes but I think the green/black version looks good. All I can say is I never had any problems and I like it a lot. Have a look in Eurocycles if you're near one. They stock them.

http://eurocycles.com/ie/product/corratec/dolomiti-ultegra If you can afford to spend 1200, that's a lot of bike for the money.

Not going to say where, but I e mailed a few places earlier about potentially buying a bike from them...think the following reply, (only one so far), is impressive enough...

On the road bike, the best thing to do is drop by for sizing as different brands are not the same measurement wise, ie the scott 54 is bigger than the cube 56 and so on. The 2012 bikes are now gone but we got the 2013 in stock. The Scott bikes have come down in price also so there’s good value to be had there. The cube Peleton pro is the tiagra model, however the Peleton (sora) is the 2013 sora, which is the 105 from 3 years ago. There’s a lot to look at, talk through. You can take 10% off any of the prices (if theres no 3rd party voucher company included), take 20/30% off the clothing shoes etc depending on brand and we’ll add some accessories also. Again, best to drop by and narrow down fit and exact clothes/accessories and we#ll get you sorted with a proper discount.
If you can get down just let me know when and I’kk make sure theres nothing booked in for that time,
