What car? 1.4 petrol / diseal

Hi, just looking for some advice on what type of car i should look into getting. Currently have a 2003 petrol ford fiesta ghia with fairly low mileage on it.

Any advice on whether I'd be better off getting a diseal or staying with petrol? I'd need it for college as I'd be travelling the bones of 3 hours up at the weekends and 3 hours back. Would a 1.6 petrol be to costly to run or should I start looking for a diesel? any makes/models I should look out for? Focus? Golf? How hard is it to find a 1.4 diesel?

I've €3,000 max of a budget (ideally under that price!)
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

If the fiesta is running fine and has no problems I'd keep that. Tbh most diesels you will buy for under 3k euro under 1.4L aren't going to be amazing. There isn't even that many really under 1.4 I can think of. I have learned the hard way that with cars often the devil you know is better than the one you don't. If the fiesta is running well I'd keep it. Even the difference in fuel will not be that much considering the diesel cars you would be looking at.

better off staying with petrol if your budget is 3k too many costly things to go wrong with a used diesel at that price
