Stan James or other firms allowing credit???

Just had a bet on my Stan James online a/c. With my funds at zero, I fully expected the quick deposit function to pop up when I clicked to place bet but instead my bet was placed and funds turned minus. Not something I've seen before. Is this a perk or is there a bug in their software?
