Hey everyone, we had a limosien bull born 2 months ago, he was never right from day 1. had to be tubed fed first couple of days. very slow and lethargic.
when we gav him milk he wud take a sup then starting sucking the pen bars. his hair fell on on his nose, ears and legs. got scour a few times, wudnt eat hay or crunch. spent loads on him.
anyway he died yesterday, have Ward rang to collect him, but i was tinking of taking him to limerick to do a postmortum. is there a cost for this. do i need to ring before i go?

There is no more waste of time than sending calf to lab. You will get rsult in 2 months time saying it's inconclusive, this has been my experience so do not bother.

Calf is dead write it off it had a birth or some other defect

we sometimes say it to kanckery to have a look when cutting up animal if they see anything, or vet can do a pm at the knackery... obviously its cheaper to get the knackery to have a look but they are not vets:o

Is it not cheaper to get a PM than pay a knackery? Last cow we left into the lab for PM was well under 50e! Knackery would be more than that
