Folks, my heart is broken polishing decades of grime off the intricate brass of an old bed. While one end wasn't too bad to clean as it was simpler, it's a lot more difficult when getting the brasso into the nooks and crannys. I'm just using cloths and brasso but if anyone had any tips to speed this up or if there is some connection I can get for drill as a rotating polisher, I would appreciated it greatly!

    Thanks

Soldiers and policemen had the same problem with the emblems on their buttons so they used a button brush and Brasso. A button brush is about 4" long and has very stiff and short bristles.

Make up a strong mixture of hot water, Baking Soda and Washing up liquid and steep the brass for a few days.
    Job done.
    Cheers.

Thanks Tom. Unfortunately it's a bed so unless I can get my hands on a trough type system then ill have to continue to polish me knobs!

You can also use the liquid and brush it in. Even wet a cloth with it and wrap it around some of it. Its better after soaking though.

OP, I see the Varian brush company is still in business and their 'special brushware' may be of interest, note especially the long brush with the wooden handle in the 'Brass Brushes and Twisted brushware' photo (top centre). I suspect that has firm bristles like my button brush.
