    Hi all.Thanks for yer time. Here is the story in short.I am on unemployment benefit,and living with my brother at the moment.My girlfriend and I have just bought a house (both our names on it) and I am just wondering how this will effect me.Should I say anything,or is it essential I tell them?I really dont know how it works. P.S. I am not a sponger,I worked to the bone for the last 17 years,just you know the way it is now :):) ...Thanks in Advance for any replies.

    Do I lose my benefits,or basically how does does it work. I sign on in one town but am mving to another,forgot to put that in.

    If you've made the required payments - sounds as if you have then you'll have 9 months on non-means tested benefits. If you are on the means tested benefits then you've been up to something by not declaring you have enough to buy a house with joint assets.

    Social realise you need somewhere to live and will grant benefits accordingly.

    EDIT: Sorry yes the linked forum is much more appropriate.

    To Be honest, I am probably crazy.We got it very cheap,so only needed a small loan. I think I will just tell them the craic,and see what they say.

    Some punctuation and decent grammar would be good. However it is a MYTH that you get free houses and rent when you're on Welfare.

    Of course you know that Rent Allowance is means tested and recipient has to pay at least E35 weekly towards the rent - right? Same thing with MIS.

    Or have you been reading The Sun again?
