RINGTOWN WINS A THRILLING LADBROKES 600 FINAL
    11/05/2013
The Ladbrokes 600 never fails to produce the thrills and the spills and the tradition was maintained in sensational style at Shelbourne Park on Saturday.
With Ringtown Snowy providing trainer Paul Hennessy with a sixth success in the classic and a first for Ballinasloe owner Paul Hynes.
But the favourite Tyrur Sugar Ray would have to be rated a hugely unlucky loser as he appeared to lose his footing after breaking reasonably. He was suddenly well adrift of the field and appeared to have no chance – or so we thought.
It was PJ Fahy’s other finalist Tyrur Amelia that came away best and she raced to the bend with Ringtown Snowy. Amelia moved ahead into the back but Ringtown went past her into the third bend and looked home and hosed. Meanwhile Tyrur Sugar Ray had somehow worked his way back into contention.
Off the final bend Ringtown Snowy was being cheered home but suddenly Tyrur Sugar Ray began to close and a late drive brought him to within a head of Ringtown Snowy (Head Bound/ Ringtown Blue) at the line in a time of 32.75. It was then another half length to Tyrur Amelia in third and a head to Highview Beauty.
For Ringtown Snowy this was a second major success of the year after previously running a dead-heat with Gizmo Classic in the final of the Gain Feeds Irish Cesarewitch at Mullingar. He has been a wonderful servant for owner Paul Hynes.
