    Well guys,

The father is thinking of taking up biking again. He used to have an A licence but he let it lapse and no longer is eligible to get it on the licence again.

So he's back to the new unrestricted A and it looking for something decent to get. He wants something a little bigger, not a 250 or anything like that. He was looking at big chopper type yamahas round 800cc but were looking for other bigish motorcycles that fall under insurance group 6?

    Any help would be great.

You'll find most of the cruiser/chopper bikes aren't suitable for the A test at least, because the KW/KG is too low.

If you are issued with a learner permit or full licence in Category A after the 19th January 2013, there is no restriction on this permit/licence. However, a new minimum age of 24 applies to be able to take out this category of licence.

    That not negate the fact?

Just means he mightn't be able to do the test on it, doesn't mean he can't buy, own and ride it in every day use.

The look a little outside his budget, he's looking for stuff less than 1750 euros.

+1 correct, just be aware he will have to do a full IBT as well before he can ride the bike on a public road

We've all the licensing stuff sorted and the IBT. He picked up a Kawasaki GPZ500 for 600 euros. Only 15 odd thousand miles. Lovely bike.

I might follow, I could tax nearly 8 bikes for what I'm paying currently. :(
