Freeview not decoding on ES5500

In the room next to me there is a Freeview box that is fully functional(in that it decodes all the British free to air channels). I placed an extension on the cable that feeds into this box and have ran it into my ES5500 that allegedly has a Freeview decoder built into it(for both UK and Ireland).

The only channels that are decoded are Saorview stations no matter what I do.

I have also changed the country settings to UK from the main control panel. Can anyone offer me any advice on how to get this running?

More than likely, the Freeview signal is weaker than Saorview & your extension cable is killing it. How long is the cable?

That's assuming it is actually Freeview UK terrestrial we are dealing with. What is the make & model of this Freeview box? What part of the country are you in? (Your location says Dublin; if this is the case, which part?)

I can't check the make and model of the box as I am not at home at the moment. Oh and the cable is pretty long(more than 20m)

I am living in Bray at the moment

You could be getting Freeview from Wales there.

I would think the signal at the original tv point is too weak to cope with splitting followed by >20 metre cable & will need amplification.
