SD Card Not Working After Connecting To Laptop

Not sure if this is the right place to be asking this but can't find anywhere more suitable

My sd card stopped working yesterday so just wondering if anyone has any idea how to get it working again, I don't think have much hope but anyway..

Its a 32gb card for my xperia play and stopped working after I connected the phone to my laptop. I've always just used airdroid when transferring data to my laptop but I have to send my phone off to be fixed for an unrelated problem so was trying to backup data before I handed it in.

I connected the phone and got a message saying there was a problem with the card and windows would try to fix it, without thinking I clicked ok and it 'fixed' the problem. The card showed up as normal then but once I disconnected it, it suddenly stopped being recognised on the phone and hasnt worked since. I've also tried plugging it into the laptop with an sd card adaptor but with no response.

From reading through similar problems on Google there's a chance it'd work if I could reformat the card but I don't see how I can do that when I can't get a response from it

    Thanks for any help..

Maybe the windows fix was to reformat the card to something windows could work with.
Were you able to get the info off of the card onto the computer?

Nah it was only stuff from the phones internal memory that I copied across, I wasn't sending away the SD Card so had no reason to back it up. I don't think there's anything too important on it anyway, ill probably lose some photos and files but most music, games etc are already on the laptop, its more the fact that it'll cost me another 30 or 40 euro to get a new one on top of the cost of having the phone repaired.

If windows did reformat the card then shouldn't it still show up when I put it in the SD slot on the laptop?

Use the HP SD formatting tool to format it again(FAT32). Should work fine.

How do I use it though? My laptop wont detect the card either so there doesn't seem to be anything I can do

Can the disk manager see it?

Is it a legit SD card?

Not at home at the moment so haven't tried the reformatting tool yet, it wouldn't detect it when I put it in the SD card slot anyway

Its a SanDisk card I bought new from Amazon so there shouldn't be any problems there
