Low-Carb Diet.

    Hey everyone. :)

Right so, I'm just after finishing my first year in college and unfortunately due to a very bad diet for eight months I have nearly gone up two dress/jean sizes. I've always been in and around a UK size 10 but I'm now finding my UK size 12 jeans becoming tight so I feel I need to lose the weight this summer before I put on anymore.

I'm planning on undertaking a low carbohydrate diet to lose around two stone so I can get back to my original weight and then keep the weight off from there, as I've always had a healthy diet (bar this year of course). And I'm hoping I can lose this amount of weight sufficiently in three/ three and half months. Is this possible? Especially with regards to a low carb diet?

I've already used this week to cut out certain high carb foods (sweet foods and bread) but I'm finding the withdrawal symptoms terrible (I think I heard it referred to as Keto-flu?). Like for example I'm tired even though I can't sleep, I'm narky, I'm thirsty constantly - even though I drink a considerable amount of water. Is there anything I can take to make the process easier? And for people who've undertaken a low carb diet in the past, how long did you suffer from these symptoms until they eased off?

    Any help is appreciated :)

Low carb isn't always the way to go but if it's what you wanna do, then do it.

Whenever I had cravings, I stuffed a handful of raisins into my mouth. Granted, they are relatively high in sugar but it's enough for my cravings to go away.

  • The withdrawal symptoms are harsh. It feels just like a head-cold.

Imagine it as though your body shuts down one engine and boots up another, takes some time for it to get into gear.

Make certain that you are swapping the fuel from carbs for fuel from fats. Low Carb & Low Fat simply does not work.

Good fats are found in fish, drupes, meat, dairy, eggs, nuts etc.

3 months is 12 weeks. If you eat a clean diet for 12 weeks you should aim for a steady loss of approx 1lb / 0.5kg per week. This is a sustainable and achievable goal. 12 weeks to lose just under a stone is really very do-able.

What would you eat in a typical day? I found the adjustment period to keto diet to take about 3-4 days, you need to ensure you are eating right though.
