Hello, Quick question, Have you ever heard of people buying knifes though a middle man such as a fishing store? Context; 3 years ago I bought a knife, completely legal, but still v.dangerous in wrong hands, and I had no problem with importing it from the American site I bought from. few months later buy another knife, much bigger this time, but still legal, it almost classified as a machete, but was still technically legal. The knife was sent, and 2 weeks l8r got a call from some garda saying that they felt that is wasent agreeable to have within the country. 2 things, 1,no where did it say in the irish legality site that there was an additional checkpoint that my knife must pass, which was the individual officer's opinion on what I may or may not be allowed regardless that it was legal & non offensive and 2, my friend who is in charge of a barracks said that should not have happened and that I could try again with a fishing store importing it. Is this common? What is the technical term for the service the fishing store would provide& what might I expect to pay the store for their part in the importing. Many thanks for any responses.
