Been told today i need the clutch and fly wheel done on my 08 1.9 tdi passat 105bhp.
Mechanic quoted me €850 for parts and about €300 for labour. Just had alook online and i could pick up a clutch kit for my Passat for €465 but not 100% if it has everything i need.
Is this price i have been quoted good/bad? Mechanic has always
been quite good with price etc.

Anyone had similar problems with their Passat have been told also it is common enough with 08 1.9 tdi models.

    Thanks

Are you pricing like for like? What brand have you priced online and what brand is the mechanic pricing for you? You will need a 2 piece clutch kit, clutch plate and cover, a release bearing, probably a hydraulic on your car and a Dual Mass flywheel. Without knowing your engine code, €850 looks near enough for Sachs or LUK, any other brand will probably not be OE for your car.

€850 for the parts is crazy money. You should be able to get the whole job done for €750 including labour using Sachs parts. Sachs are one of the OE suppliers so quality is as good as you will get.
