rotavator help please

    hi ive an old rotavator it was working fine on Monday a little smokey but nothing unusual. went to start it today and it would run for a couple of seconds then cut out. after god knows how many attempts it will not start now. last month had new points and compressor. the petrol and oil are new the plug is about 2 months old and still sparking. the air filter was cleaned and re-oiled on sat/sun so any ideas:D

    Is it flooded by any chance? Have a good smell of the engine area; if you smell petrol it may be flooded.

    Turn of all the relevant "on" switches, then pull the cord a good few times 'til you get the flooding sorted. Also, remove the spark plug and have a look in there, or leave it removed for a time to let the fuel evaporate.

    i had a similar problem, turned out to be a small lump of grit in the bottom of the tank, check the inline fuel filter too.
