The sister has a 9 year old Autistic son, and she wants to get him a Tablet. It will be mainly for games and autism related apps. She currently has a CnM booked in Argos, but i'm not quite sure of the spec. She doesn't want to be spending too much, as he can get a tantrum and throw the tablet down when he can't figure something out. (Rubber cover will be a purchase)

I was looking at other tablets, but for the same price, they all seem to be the exact save the name. One that stuck out though was a GoTab GBT9.

Then i was looking at a slightly more expensive one, a Prestigio 5580, and for an extra €25 odd, it seems to be considerably better (dual core ARM Cortex-A9, 1.5ghz).

Now, i'm asking, as i'm still not great at the aul tablet specs. I know, obviously, the better the processor the faster the tablet, same with RAM. But i was hoping someone more in the know would let me know what they think of the above 3, or any other suggestions. Needs the Play Store though.

I reckon €180, but i could convince her to go to €200. She doesn't want to spend too much as there is a high probability of it getting broke.

Is size important? Can she wait until next Wednesday? There are rumours that there is a new Nexus 7 being unveiled at Google I/O and that the current Nexus 7 will drop in price, if true its highly likely the Nexus 7 will drop into her price range making it an ideal candidate.

As said it is just a rumour though and she may need the tablet asap?

I'll say it to her, his birthday is coming up next week i think. I was thinking the Nexus 7 would be better, the niece has one and it's a great little tablet. Cheers for the info!

The CnM is good option for bricks and mortar shop.

The 10.1 " is a better option though. It has a better screen, better processor, better memory, better battery and HDMI.

The reviews on the Harvey Norman models is not generally good.

I bought this a few months back and I'm really happy with it - http://www.pixmania.ie/ie/uk/12804340/art/zenithink/c93-10-1-cortex-a9-dual-c.html

That one looks good, and i've Pixmania before so all good. Heard they can be complicated with returns though, should anything be wrong.

I have been burnt before on a tablet, so that's why I went with Argos. A good bit dearer than on line, but I can walk back in to a big company customer service desk if it goes wrong. Vital factor for kids, me thinks.
