Deans are a better connection then tamiya connectors, more solid & more surface area which means less resistants on power going to your motor, better trigger response & less drain on your battery.worth looking into better wiring also is a big plus if your going down this road , no point in having good connectors & crap wiring. If you are going deans go for the ones with grips on the side, they can be difficult to take apart. I went with those XT60 connections instead, find they are easier to solder, easier to take apart & the theory is they have more surface area but they are bigger than deans. If you search "Deans" on this section you might find some old threads about this with better info than what I gave you.

might i add, if i change my connections to deans, am i right in saying i need to put a deans connector onto my charger and solder it or would i make a deans to tamiya connector?

Ya you will need a tamyia to deans on your charger, check this place out for bits & bobs like connectors, wires etc , cheaper than Ebay I thought because they have warehouses in europe

If you learn how to solder the world is your oyster when it comes to this stuff, you'll be able to do all this changing connectors, wiring, even mosfets. Lidl or aldi sell cheap solders & you can buy them on ebay or your local hardware store
