Really trying to wrap my head around that ending...
So the Faith that i gave money to at the beginning is actually Narissa that has been popping up every now and then? if so, whose body was found to make people think it was Faith that got killed? This is the disadvantage about waiting for every episode to be released. i can't remember much about episode 1, i will have to replay it ha.

Edit: Oh and i'm going to read the comics. can anyone who read the books and played the games tell me if there is any differences or does the game follow it completely?

yo can anyone tell me, if you buy it on steam, do you get all the episodes or do you have to buy each one individually?

You'll get all of them. Seems to be on a midweek deal as well at €11.49 so as good a time as any to buy.

Finished it. Very enjoyable episode, I thought.
Loved the showdown with Bloody Mary. I didn't know that Bigby had another even more bad-ass form. Bloody Mary's true self was great too.

I killed Georgie. He didn't really deserve to be put out of his misery but I did it anyway.

I took The Crooked Man in for the trial, which was brilliantly done. There was a good few occasions where he was winning the crowd back before Bigby and Snow would convince them otherwise and then he would almost have them again but Nerissa showed up and that was all the evidence that was needed.

I was torn on what to do with him before eventually deciding to throw him down the well. I wasn't so torn after he grabbed me though.

Why did Toad have to go to The Farm? I remember I found some money at the butchers and gave it to Toad for glamour but he was still sent away? I thought I would've avoided that.

The Nerissa/Faith stuff left me a little confused. So Faith was killed which made Nerissa glamour herself as Faith to get Bigby's attention before Nerissa placing Faith's actual head on the doorstep? I ran after her at the end anyway.

I'm not really bothered about not technically proving Crooked Man's guilt. It's clear he was a bad guy and my Bigby wasn't exactly a by-the-book kind of person.

The game is set 10 years before the 1st issue of the comic, the game is 90% canon from what I could see. The major thing from the game that wasn't in line was Narissa though after ep5 and without further explanation thats up in the air for me, as in the comics
we are told the little mermaids origin story and that she is in a pond on the farm
    in the game
it's not entirely clear she was who she said she was at all so might not have really been the little mermaid at all
Many of the minor characters in the game are never in the comic and are unique to the game, like the crooked man and his gang. Other stuff is very accurate ep 5 was full of nods and hat tips, the book of fables entries unlocked in game are pretty accurate, read the one from ep 5 regards Bigbys mum and dad thats it in a nut shell regards the comic.

Be warned though as I said earlier having read them affected my enjoyment of the game because of much more epic they are , which is saying something given how good the game is.

Yeah, I'm in two minds too. To me it makes sense if it was Nerissa glamoured as Faith in the beginning, in order to get Bigby's attention. The main thing throwing me off is Bufkin's line when Bigby's is remembering quotes in the ending, about how Faith disguised herself to escape the kingdom.

The only other thing is that Lily still looked like Snow White even after death, until they broke her glamour. That and the other flashback line about the doctor running more tests on Faith's body. So maybe if it was actually Nerissa's body glamoured as Faith, and Nerissa was the little mermaid, it might have been the reason the doctor needed to do more tests.

So I'm putting my money on it being Faith who is alive. Perhaps there's different dialogue options which would have revealed another clue.
At the start of game, when you first can interact with the magic mirror, if you ask it to locate Faith's Father it shows you a corpse. However, if you ask it to show you Faith, its says that she is hidden by powerful magic. So I always figured that Faith was still alive and was hidden by a glamour.

Thought the last episode was a good one, all though as usual seemed to go by too quick!
The action sequences were great, particularly the final fight with Mary (who looked absolutely bad ass in her true form). It's funny, she was one of the few characters I probably would have chosen to kill, didn't get the choice though.

Loved the trial scene with Crooked Man as there were a few points where I actually thought he was gonna talk his way out of it, and I didn't want to just kill him and have Fabletown hate me after trying so hard to get them to see him as merciful.

The ending... I actually didn't cop who it was! Problem with the gaps between episodes I guess. But now that I get the implication I'm a bit confused about what happened. My guess is that Nerissa glamoured herself as Faith to get Bibgy's attention maybe, as J. Masrston said. Hope it gets revealed in Season 2! (which I really hope they make)

Overall, I enjoyed it more than Walking Dead. It just has more interesting characters and style. However it definitely doesn't punch anywhere near the same emotional punch.

Also, love the avatar Penn ;)

    Just finished episode 3.
Damn straight I killed him! Who wouldn't after a fella unloads 50 shotgun rounds into you, after trying previously. And I burned the witch's tree, lying black marketer! I've generally been nice. I was nice to the tweedle in the interrogation, so screw that!

    So I
    killed the crooked man :D

Up to that point I didn't kill anyone. The scene back at the well was good, half them hated me haha.

After that....the story went downhill I thought, they should have ended on a high with the well scene instead of the little fillers like TJ being sent to the farm...which was depressing and then a conversation with Nerissa or whoever

is it worth going back and playing it again? this time making different choices than before

Finished it tonight, and absolutely loved it.
I took the Crooked Man in, and imprisoned him. I was trying for the 'changed' Bigby, and didn't really kill anyone when given the option. Loved the fight with Mary...she looked brilliant as well.

Didn't quite cop the Faith/Narissa thing. Did they ever say if Glamour's had a time limit? I'm going with the assumption that Faith was killed, and Narissa saw it, so she glamoured herself as Faith to talk to get Bigby invested. Then placed the head on Bigby's steps. Though it does leave it quite open for interpretation. Either way, I let her go anyway, and smoked a cigarette like a badass :)

Would love to see a season 2, and will check out the comics.

    Excellent final episode;
it was a "wrap things up" grand affair from the get go. Loved the chase set piece, Bloody Mary battle was very cool. (Narratively I can understand TellTale saving the full wolf shape/blowing wind for the finale but it felt like just that, as he's been close to death before and hadn't fully changed). Let Georgie die (didn't want to murder him if possible, also leaving him to bleed out seems a crueller option, for killing 2 women) but I immediately regretted it as it nagged me that he could survive. Took Crooked man in, loved that the big scene was a conversation, convincing your peers into deciding a man's fate, bringing up old decisions - brilliant. It swung in your favour, out of it, back in, just very well done. I had every intention of killing him (illegal money-lending, magic slavery, prostitution, murder, attempted murder!) but went for the 'restrained' down a well instead.

I took Nerissa's words to mean she glamoured herself to look like Faith (after she was murdered) to get Bigby's attention. Shocked how her actions put everything in motion. Loved that they did a nice, relaxed epilogue/resolution scene to bow out for the season. Slightly annoyed Toad/TJ and Colin had to go to the farm - could've sworn my decisions said the opposite. (Money/promises). But it was a nice scene.
All in all, killer episode, great season. Definitely preferred over TWD S2, which has also been very good but just so depressing. With Fables, you just have so much material to work with. I love how these old stories are just the background for the character.

It's worth looking up the old stories, even if you just read the wikipedia stuff, for many myself included only know the disney versions, for example I never knew rose red existed and her and snows entire history from the old tales has been worked into fables at some point, and the beauty is the stories are for the most part traditional folk takes and so need no permission for the characters to be used. I have to say the entire concept is a stroke of genius on willingham's part.

Edit: Wish it was wednesday already so I can get issue 142 of fables, catching up to the series so fast was not smart , now I've the month to month wait until it ends at issue 150.

The story and tone is very different, but that's a good thing. It's well worth playing if you enjoyed TWD

I probably enjoyed it more than the Walking Dead. Loved both of them, but the setting for this is absolutely fantastic, and has some excellent characters. Definitely worth €7.

Much preferred to this to the Walking Dead....

Its a much better franchise over all, having read both sets of comics and played both games.

Haven't heard a thing yet regarding a season 2 of The Wolf Among Us.
I could be early days, but I have a bad feeling its not getting a second season.

I think it's still early days tbh. If we don't hear anything by Christmas, maybe I'd start to get a bit worried.

I don't think you quite got the significance of that scene. It was definitely not filler and in some ways the most important scene of the entire episode.

Seems to only be available on import like both seasons of The Walking Dead :(

Been playing this on the PS4, I bought it on disc O_O
    Really enjoying it
i`m in the 3rd episode & just about to enter Ichabod Cranes apartment.......sense that its too easy fpor him to be the murderer and there are a few more swerves ahead, can`t help but feel Bluebeard or maybe the Headless Horseman is involved based on the picture early in the game with a load of different fables (Faith/Donkey Cloak, Snow White/7 Dwarfs, Beast/Beauty, Hood, Wolf & Huntsman.
    :/

    Honestly I don`t know?
Telltale already have Tales from the Borderlands(In November), Game of Thrones (In December) and another season of Walking Dead (In 2015) to come out.
Would love to see them do another Sam and Max too :o

A lot of people are a fan of the Sam&Max series they did, never played them myself.
Jurassic park is complete pants....it's atrocious.
Back to the Future...it being one of my favourite films...I was even bored by the 2nd episode...never got around to finishing it.

They also did a Tales of Monkey Island, but I didn't get around to those either

Aw there has to be one after that ending  Really enjoyed the game though but the last two episodes were too short imo
Fu<k the crooked man he deserved worse than being put down the well but what Nerissa said at the end annoyed me. Was sure i`d get to talk to Snow after or even give her her present.
Btw was gutted to send poor little TJ to the farm at the end, damn that voice actor

You not get the option to
tear the crooked man's head off before you threw him in the well?
    :)

Finished this last night and thought it was great though I
wasn't sure what Bigby had figured out from what Narissa said at all though.
I'll have to get my hands on the comics.

That does sound like another TWAU series being teased.

    Great news if true.

I don't mind how far off it is either, as I would like them to update their engine, I think the current one is showing its age now (slightly).

I'd be delighted if they did a 2nd one. I absolutely loved the first, and really enjoyed the world they created. I think i even preferred it to TWD.

No doubt it's a tease for season 2 of TWAU, all they left out of the tweet was ''Wolf''. The last line in the game was ''I'll see you around...Wolf'' when the penny was dropping with Bigby.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,084 ✭✭✭✭Kirby

Yay! Season 2. I hope they surprise us all and are all like "Available March!" or something like that. Sneaky feckers. :p

Just playing this now! Really loving it. First Telltale game I've played too. Enjoy the style of it; it's very noir.

There's only one way to get by in this world and it's by being big...and being bad! I'm on the third part now.

I think TWAU is probably my favourite of the Telltale Games. Its story may not be as heart-wrenching as some of the others, but it's a brilliant story with fantastic characters and some huge action sequences that don't feel forced or out of place.

Grabbed this in the steam sale and finished last night must say is a really good game. I'm not sure that our choices have much of an input in how the game progresses tbh I feel you'd have the same choices at the end no matter what you did before.

    Anyway :
Did anybody else get a weird vibe about Snow. Something feels off about her I think she has more going on than meets the eye. What peeked my interest was when we first met Bloody Mary in the alley and she's about to kill Bigby. Snow asks to spare him and the Crooked Man rolls down the window and motions BM to leave him. Did Snow beg just right or was she giving the order?. BM breaks BW arm and as she's getting into the car says "Out with the old in with the new. Long live the Queen". Which Queen is she refering to?.

In the Butchers the blackboard has a list of glamours and a Mr White is one of them. There is a scene where we see Crane getting into a car and putting a glamour on the seat beside him. Is it crane?. Who is the glamour of?. Snow also comes out the best of them all she has almost complete control of Fabletown and for all her talk lets Blackbeard skip the queue at the end. And there ain't no way she gives a damn about Bigby. No way. She also was the one who found the head. And she sent toad away even after he was going to get glamours.

For the record I threw the kid down the well. Was gonna let him live but when he grabbed me he was donezo. Not sure if its Narissa or Faith who is still alive I guess we'll find out if they make a season 2. Please let our choices mean something TellTale.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,174 ✭✭✭✭Captain Chaos

It is very good, well written.. I think people are starting to see more and more with the Telltale games that the choices you make don't change the out come that much. It will change small details of events but it will still go the way it's ment to go in the end.
