Hi all

Now that the bad weather has passed, I'm going to try again at organizing
a Collectibles and Antiques meetup. I posted this a few months ago, there
was not interest. I'm trying again now that summer is on the way.
This is a shameless repost on my part, but it's worth a try

Collectibles & Antiques Meetup

A few of us were supposed to get together at the recent coin fair in the RDS,
but missed each other bay a few minutes.

I thought it might be nice to organize a meetup for all people interested in
Collectibles & Antiques. What do you think?

I thought a Saturday afternoon in Dublin city center would be a good start.

We could all meet in the lovely Manning's Cafe in Dublin's Thomas Street.
It's a famous bakery and cafe that serves the most delicious cakes, buns and goodies.
It's a real hidden gem, outside the tourist traps of the city center.

Each of us could bring a "mystery item" to share with the other people who come along.

It's only a short walk from Manning's to Francis Street, to see the famous
posh antique shops. The best part of Francis Street, in my opinion, is the
large Oxfam Home store. This has a big selection of furniture, books, collectibles
and other bits and bobs for sale.

There are lots of great charity shops along Aungier Street and George's street
in Dublin as well. There are some nice cafes along here too.

Or we could organize an outing to the Chester Beatty Library at Dublin castle,
or another great museum.

What do you all think?

Definitely support it! Unfortunately, I won't be able to join you as I won't be in a position to travel to Dublin for some months.

Well it doesn't have to be Dublin, I'd be open to any alternatives.

I just said Dublin because that's where I know a bit about the antiques
and charity shop scene. Please, post away with any different ideas.

Hi Barneysplash,I am up for it pal,I am 31 and live in balbriggan,be great to meet like minded people,and yes the oxfam shop is cool.

P.m me if you are up for it and we can converse more regarding it and see if it suits.
I have my own antiques blog and I am buying and selling for over ten years.
Its a great idea and I have no doubt given time and baby steps that it could grow into a nice group of over excited men and woman running around town and carboot sales to see who can spot what first?!!!!!!
