A massacre if Manny has anything left.

A face-first slugger vs Pacquiao? Lights out and good night I'd say. At the very least he'll win a wide decision, and that's if he's shot completely.

At least it will be action packed while it lasts that is i would predict manny in 6 rounds

Should be a great entertaining fight.

Rios blocks shots with his chin

Unless Manny's shot this should be Pacquiao-Diaz II.

Brandon will KO Manny P . BRANDON IS CONTINUING ON FROM THE WORK OF HIS HERO AND ATG MARGARITO . HE WILL END THE PACQUIAO MAYWEATHER FARCE.

I'm gonna fly to Macau to see Brandon end Pacquiao . After that he can concentrate on ending the SHAM of Khan Mayweather that GoldenBoy are hyping up. BRANDON WOULD DECAPITATE "A MERE CON" INSIDE 3 ROUNDS.

THEN RIOS CAN GET IN AND TAKE FLOYDS 0. THE ONLY REASON FLOYD HAS THE ZERO IS BECAUSE HE DUCKED MARGARITO WHO WOULD HAVE TOOK HIM DOWNTOWN MEXICO STYLE.

    RIOS IS IMPROVED MARGARITIO II

    VIVA RIOS HOLMES
    COMPADRE OUT

There's going to be USADA testing for this according to Michael Koncz.

Should be a war. Don't know why no one's giving Rios a chance, yes his style suits Manny, but Manny got sparked badly in his last fight and hasn't looked great recently anyway. Rios is a brawler and even though he'll get hit, he has KO power and won't stop coming forward. Manny can be vulnerable to the uppercut too, something which Rios possesses and will throw a lot.

I'm not saying I have Rios as favourite, but this could go either way. At the very least we'll have a very entertaining fight. Certainly one to look forward to.

    You're nutz.
I love the BLOCK CAPITALS ! It's like words are not strong enough to get your point across.

You're going to fly across to another part of the world to see Rios for an hour ?

I have sometimes considered myself a Sugar Shane Mosley fanboy ! But you have elevated to a new level there :)

Best of luck with that - but I wouldn't be too optimistic about Brandon's world dominance !

Rios made Mike Alvarado look like Ray Leonard, a vintage Manny Pacquiao would pulverise him. But Manny has been slowing down since 2010, and who knows if his punch resistance will ever be the same again? Manny's potential vulnerability means there's question mark hanging over the fight, but that's the only question mark.

It feels like they've been promoting this fight forever!

I think Rios always had a bit of a slur so I don't know how punch drunk he actually is. With his style he'll get there someday you'd imagine. He's clearly tailor-made for Manny but at the same time there are question marks about Manny's physical condition at this point, for a variety of reasons. I think there's very legitimate skepticism as to the commitment of Pacquiao to boxing at this point and if he's half-assing it in getting his body ready then he's not going to get away with that for very long.

Either way it should be entertaining as Manny will certainly be looking to put on a show and Rios will be looking to trade at every opportunity. It should end with a late round stoppage with Manny looking great. Anything short of that would signal the end of Manny Pacquiao as an elite level prizefighter.

Rios is ridiculously overrated and lacks the skill-set to give an already passed it Pacquiao any problems,
His come forward style is going to see him walk into alot of straight left hands.

Boxing fans will claim Pacquiao is back to his best and Floyd will start "ducking him" again.

I think people are a little harsh on Pacquiao. He clearly beat Bradley and was winning the fight until he got knocked out by Marquez.I don't know if you can question his commitment based on a knock out A knockout can happen to anyone in boxing, obviously the question is, is he the same fighter after the knockout?

I think that 24/7 series portrays him as this bloke that sets up a 10 week training camp compacted with a lot of problems and then does nothing in between fights. He's always in the best of nick so I think there is some commitment there.

I don't think anyone's questioning his commitment based on the knockout. It's more the fact that people close to him keep saying that he's absorbed by his political role now and that boxing doesn't have the same appeal for him. It makes sense too. Obviously the guy is going to find building hospitals for impoverished Filipinos more rewarding than punching another man in the face for 12 rounds.

This coincides with what appears to be a fairly significant physical decline over the past few years. To me at least, he looks to be a faded version of the 08/09/10 version of Pacquiao. I'm not suggesting that he's shot, just that the line is headed south and he's probably going to keep deteriorating. Manny was a phenomenal physical specimen, and physique slips faster than anything else.

I don't think Rios is that overrated. He just lost to Alvarado after all. People know what he's about.

I would never have thought of Rios as being overrated. Admired, yes. Not overrated!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,337 ✭✭✭moneyman

If anything he's being a little under-rated. I wouldn't be surprised if he troubles Manny, simply because Manny is past his best and Rios is a strong, physical brawler. I'd have Manny as a good, solid favourite but not as much of a mismatch as many are saying. This will probably be a bit personal for Rios, too. He'll be well prepared.

Pac has always eaten crude brawlers alive. Even if he's only 50% of the Pac of 2 years ago, he'll still put a total beat down on Rios. Easy fight for him.

I thought that was genuinely a pretty good episode of 24/7. It had become quite boring and very cliched over the last few years but that one was decent.

Didn't think the episode was great, Rios is a character but its Manny's limited competence in the English language which results in a drama been created by the directors rather than a alluring viewing personalty. For me, I love when these series focus on the boxers going hard at it in training and sparring rather than the same rubbish about press tours and a sob stories. The show is getting fairly predictable now and no doubt you'll see Alex Ariza feature prominently in the future episodes due too him working with Rios.

'Getting pretty predictable'? It's been dull and predictable for years. Even Mayweather admitted last year that it was gone to sh*t. And he was in the series he was referring to.

I fully agree about Manny's english being an issue. I think he'd be a much more interesting figure if he could speak in his native tongue and they used subtitles. But apparently speaking english enhances the marketability of fighters and therefore we have to put up with the same inane one-liners from him every series. We have to do that with Floyd too of course, but for different reasons.

"Rios/Marquez/Bradley is strong fighter...it will be a very exciting fight for the fans and the people"

"For this fight...I want to win by knockout"

Roach started it because of Ariza working with Rios

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,225 ✭✭✭Henno30

Ariza comes out of that much worse than everyone else. The confrontation between Roach and Garcia was fairly typical considering the circumstances, usual mind-games stuff with each wanting to stand their ground.

Ariza then starts mocking Roach's disease and kicks him in the chest. Dirtbag.

I don't know about anyone coming across better than anyone else in that video. They all looked foolish in it.

Anyway, why is Roach so annoyed about Ariza working with Rios/?

Used to like watching the Elie Seckback videos but I had to stop watching them for his one-sided journalism.I don't know how he gets access to all the big fighters,he's very annoying.

He's a pretty horrible individual. He was tweeting TMZ afterwards telling them that he had footage of Roach saying he hates jews and Mexicans. He was also trying to get Robert Garcia to say that Pacquiao is probably a racist as well. The thing is, he's such an idiot he actually puts these videos up himself, apparently not realising how he comes across in them.

Ariza is a scumbag but that video wasn't too flattering for anybody.

I think Pac wins by KO but I do have concerns about his chin because of how easily he went down to Marquez in the first knockdown and because of the devastating concussion he then sustained at the end of the fight. Often fighters never recover from a shot like that. Still think he should outgun Rios though, and early.

The second shot would have ko'd almost anyone. It all happened so perfectly. Manny fell onto the shot whilst off balance, and he took it full force with a loose body. Hell of neck/head whip when you look at it. The first shot was a strange one, but he got up quickly and resumed action.

I agree the second shot would have KO'd anyone, just saying it will have long term implications for his punch resistance. My point about the first KD was that it was a bit worrying and possibly showed punch resistance deterioration prior to the KO.

I didn't notice that on the betting sites actually. That's strange.

It's actually on at around 3 or 4am in the UK and Ireland, so about midday in China? It's been scheduled for the American audience.

More like 8am I imagine. Pretty unusual alright. What time was it locally when Tyson- Douglas fought? Think it was real early as well.

Isn't the fight scheduled for 0900 hrs local time?

It seems that they will be fighting at or near to midday local time.

    http://www.newsday.com/sports/boxing/manny-pacquiao-vs-brandon-rios-hbo-24-7-episode-3-recap-1.6480423

I wonder how that would affect a boxer? Presumably they would need to restructure their lifestyle somewhat to cater for it. Probably best to train in the U.S. until as near to fight day as possible so that you will still be going into it as though it was an evening bout. For Pacquiao and Rios it might not be so bad but if you were bottom of the undercard it would be very early. I couldn't imagine getting in the ring after having a bowl of corn flakes.

Bob Arum said at the press conference the other day that the fight starts at 9pm New York time which is 2am here.
