First off, I am in now way homophobic. I have wondered though what the reaction from the gay community would be if there was a heterosexual pride day where people marched on the streets and shouted their joy to be straight? If it ever happened, would those involved would be seen to be anti-gay. Again, I would like to stress that I am not homophobic. Would just like to hear opinions.

My opinion is that it would come across as trolling.

Anyways, nobody's totally straight. We all have a little gay inside us :D

    White heterosexual male pride day.

Can you imagine how that'd go down? Especially on boards.

But being straight is the socially accepted norm. Hence the reason for Gay Pride marches and so forth... it's an attempt for those groups to attain social acceptance and equality.

The idea of a straight-pride event is completely stupid and only ever trotted out by those who refuse to acknowledge that gay people are treated differently by society.

I was going to write out a reply but to be honest this sums it up perfectly.

What need is there for straight people to take to the street and celebrate their straightness? Most people are assumed to be straight unless they show they're not.

A straight pride march would have a lot of closet dwellers if you ask me!

Would be just another parade with shìte music and stereotypes of what it means to be hetero..............probably some guys acting like alpha males, kissing their muscles going:

    "Do you even lift, brah!?!"

But homosexuals are being socially accepted more and more every day. Will there come a day when they have more rights than heterosexuals? An example is some police forces have a quota of how many African Americans they have to employ. So if a job becomes available and they need to fill the quota, they have to give the job to an AA regardless of the ratio of black/white applicants or suitability for the job. Surely this is discrimination against the white applicants! Another example is Jamie Fox. If a white person were to say the things he has said about black people, there would be uproar. Johnny on the x factor. If a straight person behaved the way he did, they would have been kicked off the show.

PS I am not homophobic or racist!

    Why not a handicapped parade?

I'd support a Sunday Morning Fear & Shame Parade, it could fill the void that not going to mass has left for many hungover people.

Because you have never been punched in the face out side a Blue Eyed Bar for having blue eyes.

Because you have never been jailed for having blue eyes.

Because you have never been beaten to death in Fairview Park for having blue eyes.

Because you haven't been slagged to till you are driven to suicide because you have blue eyes.

Anyway Pride is for all. Come celebrate diversity. Coz if we all had blue eyes, we might all be twats.

I got slated by a gay poster on Boards once for saying I was proud to be hetrosexual.

He didn't seem to understand that straight people can be proud of being straight if they want to be.

He gave me the impression the word 'pride' was the preserve of gay people.

They have monopolised it for themselves and the rest of us can jump.

I've often said in work that white heterosexual males have the worst of everything. Cant be racist against a white person, or sexist against a man, or sexist (or whatever it is) against straights. We just have to take whatever life throws at us adn cant complain. I'm in, lets have this parade.

Yes thank you, i do understand the concept. Just saying, it wouldn't be something i would personally buy into. Same as many in the gay community dont engage with the pride thing and find it quite naff.

I give gay pride a lot of stick cos I think it's stupid to be proud of your sexual orientation, and I'm not a fan of OTT flamboyant gay stereotypes (although people are, of course, allowed to be as flamboyant as they like, regardless of sexual orientation - it's just a trait I dislike) that seem to be rampant in the parades. However, that said, I'm going to actually attend properly this year and see if I can enjoy it :pac:

there is no need for a pride day for a group which behaves in the way which is perceived as the norm

if all groups were equal then we could all have our pride days and I would celebrate my straightness with you
