Toyota yaris rust

Hi folks, wanted to ask your advice on something. I drive a toyota yaris. It's only 3 years old this summer. I was out last night washing and waxing it and I notice tiny rust spots on the roof. Now when I say tiny they are big enough to see but small enough for me not to care about.

The rust on one of them is developing tiny spines like crows feet moving away from the spot.

    My question is this.

1 on a 3 year old toyota is this acceptable

    2. Is it best to do something now while the spots are tiny or wait till its work while having a body shop fix it.

Your thoughts and input is greatly appreciated.

Have you had the windscreen replaced?

Does it look like its been caused by a stone chip?

Get it to a dealer ASAP. Your car has an anti perforation warranty, there are exclusions of course.

I have no doubt it's caused by s stone chip, but no I have not had a windscreen replaced. I am with the dealer today for a recall so I just wanted a little guidence before I went into them.

Like I said its only tiny but it will have to be sorted

I wouldn't tolerate rust on a 3 year old Yaris, especially on the roof. Odd place to get a chip though. The roof is relatively flat.

Most manufacturers guarantee anti corrosion for ten years now saying that surface rust is no big deal but the roof should come in under that not the bonnet or wings etc, go to a dealer and ask them if they send you away treat it with a rust neutralizer and give it a little seal with clear coat.

The chances are if there is crows feet coming out of the rust spot its caused by impact damage. If the paint has been damaged by a stone chip its hard luck
