Strava on Android won't upload, or am I doing something wrong?

Hopefully some of the experienced Strava heads can help me out. I started using Strava on my Samsung Android a couple of weeks back, and I can't get it to upload automatically at the end of the ride.

I stop the recording and hit the + button. It comes up with box shown in the attached screenshot, but clicking the 'save ride' button does nothing. If I hit my 'back' button, I get the option to 'discard or cancel'. I seem to get stuck on that screen, unable to go anywhere, and I have to kill off the task.

Sometimes, when I start up again, it seems to notice the rides that haven't been uploaded, and then uploads them.

Am I doing something wrong, or is there some reason why the 'save ride' button won't work?

Dunno about a + button. IIRC you just slide the button from left to right (it's a type of lockscreen) and then click on save.

I get the odd funny, but it's grand most of the time - and I'm on android too. If it's causing you problems, I suspect something is stiing in the cache and causing problems. If that's the case, go into settings, manage apps, Strava and then clear cache, settings, etc. You won't delete anything that's already in "the cloud".

Why hit the + button ? As route66 said just slide the unlock thing, stop the ride and save.

Have u tried uninstalling the app and reinstalling it ? Know there was a dodgy update on the app a few weeks ago that kept crashing mine but the new update sorted it out.

When you hit stop, there is an option to finish ride in the bottom left hand corner of the screen. This should then ask you do you wish to save it.

I've found the strava helpdesk to be very good and attentive. Raising a support ticket with them will get you a clear answer.

btw afaik the + button is the one that allows you to see the ride in real time. It's almost certainly not the stop or save button .

On my andriod , there is a round button on the rhs of the screen where the timer is - looks sort of like a hash tag in it - that is the stop button and when you press that it gives you the option to save or discard.

Looks more like a chequered flag to me, cos, y'know, you've finished the ride.

Thanks folks - very helpful. I was indeed missing the obvious step of clicking the save button - not the most intuitive interface I've ever seen - I'm uploading cleanly now.

Next question - how do I get from 300th place in the rankings to no. 1?

    Haha, what!?
    I can't believe that exists!

Just what I need to make it those few places into the top spots of my favourite segments.

When I finish a cycle and press the finish button, Strava usually uploads to the internet. Tonight though i got file error and nothing.

Has this ever happened anyone and if so were you able to retrieve the ride?

Just a bit annoyed as it would have brougth me over the 250k for the May Massive.

I have got a server error before, it always uploaded later when i get signal or wifi again, was that your issue?

No, my phone picks up the house wi-fi when I pull up outside the door but usually this doesn't cause any trouble. Maybe the switch over from mobile data to wifi caused the problem but this has never happened before..

The only thing then is to look at your list of rides on your phone (second tab from the left), if its there, just go into it, if its not, I imagine it is lost.
