Im currently working overseas & know dat I will not get a job in my current field if I return to Ireland so I'm considering a career change. I would like to study some area of computers - it seems to have survived d recession - so is there any on line course that I could do from over seas to start me off. I have looked at UL but don't see anything - the plan would b to start on line & when I return to Ireland I would possible return to college full time as a mature student. Any ideas?

DCU do a diploma in IT which can lead to a bachelor of IT: http://www.dcu.ie/oscail/index.shtml

Cisco Certified Network Associate (2 exams)
    Comptia A+
Microsoft Solutions Associate Server/SQL Server (3 exams for each)
    Linux Comptia +
    Java Associate Developer
Microsoft Solutions Assocaite Web development (3 exams)

Depending on whether you want to go down programming or network route.

Have a look at ecollege run by Fas. The above qualifications are recognised world wide and most work places now prefer these over any degree. The information is available online or through books and you just have to pay for the exams with microsoft ones around 400 for the three exams, and cisco around 220 for the two exams.
