I must say , the wording or phrasing in some online car advertisements is comical .. Two of my favourites that will surely put me off an add is , " minter " and " some rasp off her " !!

    Cleanest ..... in Ireland
    Only.... in Ireland

Worst one of all though, no nct but will fly through. I'd love to give the fu*kers that write that one in one good powerful slap between the eyeballs

because if its an M3, potential buyers don't need to be told its fast and if its a 1.4 golf you know its been driven to death.

Spelling errors is one that scamers use quiet often to try and make you think they wouldn't be smart enough to do one on you.

    It's out of a box.
It only needs a bulb to pass the NCT or a hand brake cable she will fly true(through).
Driving 100% but turbo is gone or wont start etc.
She has lasted me years never a days bother.
It only failed on a hole in the exhaust etc.. don't have the time to fix it.
    New car forces sale.
    Leaving the country.
    Quick sale.
    Cleanest around.
She is out of a box.
And loads of other things put down that annoy me.

then its average. sorry. doubt it's notably "fast"

0-100km/h in 9.5s and top speed of 206km/h.
Definitely faster than average car Irish people drive.

However maybe indeed I should take this wording off the ad.
I don't think it would make much difference though. Car is non-sellable anyway. For 3 months I got zero response - not even a phone call.

its hardly earth shattering. a nice car, probably well geared, nice to drive with a bit of power.

but 0-60 in 10 seconds and a top speed of 130mph is pretty average.

Go on any parking lot, choose 10 random cars and compare how many have better performance and how many have worse.
I bet you will struggle to find 3 cars out of 10 with better performance than my mazda.

I'm not trying to say it's high performance car.
It's just faster than average car in this country.

The only reason I see it's not selling is as you know yourself it's a 2litre petrol.
I am a petrol head myself but they seem to be getting scarce.

    Cinio,

I think the point being made here is that people know what cars they are looking for. If a person decides they want a mazda, your 'fast' car will not make it any more desirable than another, same model mazda.

I recently bought a car and plenty of nonsense such as 'this is a rare car' or other such rubbish is just superfluous and off putting.

Fwiw I think it's a very well written ad, and speaking as someone who hates " fast car" written into an ad, I think yours is ok by the way you have it written into a description of the car, not just saying its fast.

Mint - though clearly modified; enough said.

IMO there's no such thing as 'fast' 2.0 anywhere in Ireland, just saying that proves you're not really at the races, excuse the pun.

Umm, I had an identical, i.d.entical Mazda 6 2.0. a.it's not fast. b.it eats fuel and is dull as ditchwater to drive. As you probably well know:D

I always got in and drove and went "no way is this a 2.0, no way on earth, they must have blanked off two cylinders and drilled a hole in the fuel tank". I sold it to a lad I know who is very impressed by rear spoilers, shiny blue paint and alloys. :)

All I know is that is one of the best handling cars in it's class. And I confirm it is. It's great to drive, comfortable and goes through the bends like train or the rails. So I'm not sure where are you coming from?
I always got in and drove and went "no way is this a 2.0, no way on earth, they must have blanked off two cylinders and drilled a hole in the fuel tank".

It is 2.0, it has 140BHP, it weights 1300kg, and it does 0-100km/h in 9.5s and top speed of 206km/h. That's what is says on the tin, and that's what it does.
IMHO not bad as for rather large and comfortable family saloon.

Fuel consumption - yes, once you drive it hard it can be quite scary once you see a bill on petrol station. If you drive it gently, it's only a bit scary.

1300kg ? Looks alot heavier than that

My car is a small light 3 door hatch and it's 1500+kg

Different sources show between 1300 and 1375.

What small light 3 door hatch is over 1500kg kerb weight?

Hate when mention of "new" parts on car for sale, owner list all things put on in last year or two or three, they not new parts now

Sellers of vintage cars worse for this in my finding.

2 litre petrol with relatively high fixed and running costs means demand for that Mazda is very low indeed. It's also 9 years old, and has well over 100,000 miles covered.

I think you need to be realistic and bite the bullet and drop the price - quite a bit. It's a shame as the car looks attractive otherwise.

Its definately not a light 3 door hatch if it weighs in at over 1500 kg. What car is it?

I don't think this is the worst thing in the world. Its all very relative though. For example if the discs and pads were changed within the last few months fair enough to write it into the ad. If they were changed 2 years ago it is just stupid putting it in the ad.

On the other hand if a major part that you wouldn't necessarily need to rountinely change such as clutch or engine was replaced within last year or two I think its fair enough to write it in. The same goes for a known weak spot in a particular model such as a turbo for example...

The other thing I will say is that is if you are going to do this in an ad be able to produce receipts to a potential buyer to document that the work was indeed done...

I've thought of a few more . " serious boooooooo out of her " lol refers to the stupid act if putting a dump valve on a diesel car ,, and also "washed and waxed every week " . Lets be honest .waxing a car every week is an over statement

Unless it's Metzgermeister, in which case it's 'Washed and waxed 8 million times a week'.

I already did go down a lot. Didn't change anything.
Below 2k, it will be probably more worth to export a car somewhere and get around 500 euro VRT refund.

    In my example.
    Car is 123k miles now.

I got new clutch at 105k - original one lasted up to then. New one will probably last up to 200k, so this might be actually the end of living for that car.
It's quite relevant info for potential buyer, as car with 123k might still be on original clutch which might need exchanging soon, or might be with clutch already changed, which will last for long.
The same story with rear brake discs. Car had original ones, and they were changed at 105k. New ones will last for another 100k probably.

Brake pads are around 80% - 90% left, so I feel justified in saying they were new.

    What's "fast" to you?

    0-60 in 7s
    top speed isn't amazing, 140.
But for a car that was originally realeased in '94, it's not too bad.

Of all of them, "NCT due but will fly it".

So, go "fly it" through then. What's stopping you?

Or, You go for a look and the dash is lit up like a christmas tree, it has 419.000 miles, "mileage corrected" back to 119.000 and four bald tyres with a steering wheel worn to the metal rim.. Four different brand "ditch finder" bald tyres. If they didn't mind the tyres, they sure didn't mind the oil, that's for sure. Good luck now..

    Export it then.

At the moment I don't have yet an idea - where?

And I'm still hoping I'll take more than 2k for it in Ireland.

According to revenue, this car OMSP is €2915, which means I could get €491 refund on VRT (minus cost of inspection - 32).

However to avail of it when exporting to any EU country, I'd need to have it registered there within 30 days.

Easiest way for me, would be to export it to Poland, but unfortunately it's impossible to register RHD car in there, so this is not an option until they change the law (which hopefully should change soon, as there is a case against Poland in EU court of justice in relation to prohibition of registration of RHD cars.)

At the moment, I can only wait or find a buyer outside EU (probably Ukraine, Belarus, Moldova, or somewhere there), but I didn't even think how to go about it.
