    Hi guys,

So here is what I wana do:

I have a Cisco EPC 3925 cable router connected with UPC. However, the wifi range is terrible and I want a cheap/ free way to boost it. I have a couple of old routers lying about somewhere. So since my Cisco is next to a phone line and the house has phone jacks in nearly every room I was wondering can I stick the phone line into the Cisco EPC 3925, plug it into the wall socket. then upstairs plug one of the old routers into the phone socket and bridge the two using the router upstairs as a node to boost my wifi signal.

It would look something like this:

Internet into CISCO via cable> phoneline from CISCO to Phone wall socket down stairs> phone socket to old router upstairs...... range extended? Is the possible? Will there be any chargers on my upc phone bill?...

    Please help.

These are reccomended on here quite a bit,i know there not cheap/free but they do seem to do the job:

Now please dont go out and just buy the one i linked,i only used that as an example.
There is people on here with much more experience with them than me and may advise a different model or a different type one (there are ones that work with your electrical sockets aswell) also they might know of cheaper alternatives.

Jus wanted to give you a different option

You're better off using homeplugs, and sending the signal to a router. It's essentially the same thing you want to do, just using electrical sockets in place of phone cable. You'll get non-****e speeds with homeplugs too.

See the thing is, the signal does reahc the areas I want but the device's keep droping the signal ( I.e phones tablets etc) laptop has a much more reliable signal. So for what I want Evan 40 euro isn't worth it. Its pretty much for light browsing when I'm lying in bed. What I need is help dithering out if my existing phoneline infrastructure and cable modem can provide the little boost I need.

    Not for no money anyways.

The 3925 has a shocking range, all you gotta do is stick another router on top of it in AP mode and you should get another 10-20% out of it.
