gpu upgrade due to fault / damage

Replacing my gpu due to my stupidity. I believe I broke something when moving to a new tower

MSI HD 5770

Lovely card, has served me very well over the last few years.

Ideally, I want to get something that will play arma 3 when it arrives. Everything I play now runs on max with the 5770.

MAX budget is €100 - €150. Id like to spend as little as possible!

You should get either a Radeon HD 7790 or a GTX 650 ti

The 7790 pretty consistently beats the 650ti boost and costs less. It's pretty much the same story across the entire graphics card range. For single gpu solutions amd wins at every single price point.

Sooner rather than later 1gb memory is going to hurt that cards performance.

Getting a 2gb version of a lower end card is pointless. He could get the 2gb version if he wanted. It's about 20 more.

I don't know, I'd have the 2gb as games are only getting more complex and the extra memory will be critical to maintaining good frame rates.

You are right but lower end card's usually can't run newer titles maxed out.

The higher the settings you have the more video ram it uses.

Max Payne 3's graphics options display how much video memory the settings are taking up.
Everything from textures, resolution, shadows and aa.

There's a point where the gpu limit's how much memory is actually useful if you want good frame rates.

Thanks for all the help guys, I ordered the 7790 from Aria with the three free games.
Been wanting to get a few new games anyway.

My current card's fan died last night.. oh well. guess I'm going to be bored until it arrives!
