When is it time to quit a sport that you are no good at & try something new?

We have kids starting sports aged 5 or 6 nowadays and there are obviously some better than others and some who don't seem to have a clue or an interest.

Some show great improvement by the time they start competing at Under 10 level but others don't show much improvement or even an interest sometimes.

How long do you give it? is it possible they will eventually improve?

Is it up to coaches to tell parents if their child is unlikely to be good enough to ever make the team?

I know sports is meant to be for fun especially at a young age but once there is tournaments /cups/ medals etc it does get very competitive.

You try something new when you are not enjoying it anymore.

If the kids are having fun then just because they might not be winning is no reason to stop taking part.
