Better to buy crimps and tools from the same supplier as not all crimps are compatible with different crimpers, personally I would only use them on Commerical fitting jobs or on difficult to get to roofs etc as they are a waste of money for domestic homes driving the cost of the work up in the end which no1 is willing to pay for.

I use Triax crimp connectors, the crimper costs around €30 and the connectors €20 to €25 per 100 including vat. They are twice the twice of of screw on connectors but in reality thats about an extra 10c per connector. I don't think that few cent would be considered as something that drives up the cost of installation, You'd have to use 10 of them to increase your cost by €1. They are far better than the screw on's anyway, no silly service calls afterwards with the cable falling out of the connection and so on. I thought it was only sierra installers that used the screw ons anyway, I dont know any independents who use them and UPC use the compression type.

hi,tx for the info,im using the screw ons for years and they loosen now and then if the size isnt perfect more so where they go in to the reciever than the lnb and i spent a while last night trying to figure out why only 1 tuner was working hence the crimper being bought, cheers

Its walk in and trade only. Go from the Kinsale road towards the airport and turn left at the lights at the Bull McCabe pub, take the next left at Miko Metals and they're down the back on the left near Spectrum AV. They don't open Saturday afaik.

They don't fall out if you use the correct size plugs. The problem is that most suppliers try to convince you that "one size fits all". It doesn't.
See "How to fit an F plug and other information".

hi,I know how to fit an f connector, have done so for years, your right in that a lot of suppliers and their staff are ignorant of the fact that different size cable need different size f connectors and only stock one size, cheers

That Satcure site is so 80's man, a Swiss Army knife ! , if an installer came to my house and used a Swiss Army knife and crappy screw on connectors , he would be sent " back to the future" ,
