It's the car dealer marking down the engine size, car doesn't come with a engine that size. 1.4 for that year.

But the 1.4TSI has more power than the 1.6FSI.

1.4 is a better engine alright.

Afaik the reliability issues only blighted the more powerful engines

That 1.4 tsi has a 122bhp it's relatively reliable and the tax on a 2008 registered before July 2008 is €385

I wish some people would do some research before posting about being underpowered, etc. The 1.4 litre tsi engine is turbo charged and produces 122bhp which makes it alot more nippy than the older 1.6 FSi engine. It is well able to move about too and is not an unreliable engine.

It's not the dealer's fault, it is cbg.ie. Carzone is the same. If the CC of a given car is 1399 (for example) then Carzone will state it is a 1.3 when you enter the reg to place the ad, whereas in reality it is obviously a 1.4. Similarly if you look at Golfs you will see loads of "1.8" diesels, look at Focus models then there will be "1.5" diesels listed etc. etc...

    The 1.6 has 109 lbs-ft torque (114 lb-ft for FSI) V the 1.4 TSI 148 lb-ft.

That's what makes the difference making the 1.4 pull harder with much better punch for over taking, hill climbing and also making it more efficient as you don't have to rev the nuts out of it like the 1.6.

Thanks for all the help and advice.
