Right, so i've an xperia z and its paired with my (also sony) car stereo and i stream music through it. I use the the stock walkman app, and also poweramp, but i'd like an app that combines two specific things i like about both apps:

    1. the walkman app shows the artist/album/track names on the stereo display, but doesnt resume playback when bluetooth is reconnected, and,

    2. poweramp resumes playback on reconnection but doesnt show track names.

Now i know i'm being a bit OCD about this, but i'd love an app that does both.

    can anyone help?

I didn't know it was even possible to send track info over Bluetooth. Does the walkman app have a name?

Track names over bluetooth is a hard feature to come by, lots of apps don't support it. Best bet would be to use tasker to automate the resume play when it connects to bluetooth and keep using the Walkman app

    Yes
Setup your task: load app: Walkman, media control: play. Name your task
Setup a profile with connection to bluetooth (add profile, name it, state, net, bluetooth connected)
There are tonnes of examples on the net

Is this Walman app exclusive to Xperia? I am using a HTC One X and cannot fing the walkman app in the store :(
Does anyone know of another app that gives you track nmaes over bluetooth please?

Yeah the walkman app would be sony exclusive, but sure if you google it you'll find an apk.
The reason that bluetooth track info isnt working is that there was an error with JB. When it launched the system didnt handle the profile correctly, meaning that if the developer didnt specifcally hard wire the profile into their app and instead relied on android to do it for them (which it should do) then it wont work. It should be updated in the next version of JB (which I am just waiting to install on my oneX, will let you know later tonight if the functionality is back working and if it is what apps are allowing it.

interesting, so all i have to do is wait for an update for the sony firmware, and possibly an update to poweramp, and i'm golden?
