I am travelling to Phoenix next week with a stopover in Charlotte. If i buy some duty free in Dublin (Bottles of spirits, aftershaves etc) will i be able to bring them on to my connecting flight in Charlotte? Thanks

Yes, no bother. Charlotte is all one big terminal so you definitely won't need to clear security after you get off your flight there.

no not if you clear Customs and Immigration in Dublin you won't, as you arrive as a domestic passenger and won't have access to your bags in CLT . expect to have them confiscated.

you arrive as a domestic passenger
    expect to have them confiscated.
Do you see the flaw in your argument?

So long as you ensure they purchases are put into a steb ( sealed tamper evident bag) DO NOT OPEN THIS BAG!! You should be alright!!

    Hey Paddy,

When I went to Orlando 2 years ago, we stopped in Atlanta had have to collect our bags and recheck them in. We were told at check-in at Dublin we needed to reclaim the bags in Atlanta and put any duty free in them before rechecking them for the flight to Orlando.

This was the first time I ever had to reclaim my bags on a stopover. Ask at check-in is your best option.

OP, alcohol, cosmetics, perfumes, aftershaves etc etc are much, much cheaper to buy in the US than they are here, even at the duty free price. Unless you are buying something that can not be got in the US, consider waiting until you are actually over there before you buy it. Not only will you save money, you won't have the hassle of lugging bottles around with you at airports & worrying will they be confiscated by security.

In Phoenix alcohol is much cheaper than dutyfree, cigs about the same price if you buy in one of the reservation smoke shops (dotted all around the outskirts - Google it). The only thing I will warn you about however is if you are looking for an "Irish" brand the get in Dublin before you leave. Aftershave & perfume much the same as duty free but if you can find your favourite brand in one of the Ross stores then much cheaper. By the way the weather is lovely over here right now 27 DegC and slightly overcast as I'm typing.

Which side of the city are you headed for?
