    Lads,

Is this worth getting when travelling with 2 kids, T1 at 10.30 am on a Sat morning ?
one is a "excitable and lively" 4 year old and his infant sister ( no problem bless her )

    Thanks
    Rob

I wouldn't waste money on it if you are travling at 10.30, only worth it between 6 and 8 in the mornings IMO. Security won't be that busy at that time.

What are the queues like during high season (July) before 6am? We are flying out with 2 young kids at stupid o'clock on a Thursday and I was wondering as well if it was worth booking the fast track.

Even off season 5-8am is pretty much peak time in the airport. Security taking 1 hour +. Frustrating as an adult. Add in high season and kids, Airport Genie is worth every cent and more!

Many thanks for your reply, I think I will probably go ahead with it so! I saw that if you are with O2 and sign up for O2 priority moments you can get 20% off airport genie, so i just requested the O2 discount code :-)

Even if your travelling at 10:30am if you are flying with Ryanair Airport Genie will tell you what gate your flight will go from. They send you a text after you pass though secuity. I found this very useful as you are able to go sit and relax at your gate and gain a place at the head of the Ryanair queue before everyone else gets told of the gate

I just never get this queue mentality. Unless you're a family who want to sit together or are under time pressure at the arrivals end I personally can't see the point.

Will you come back and tell me what you thought? I'm considering it myself and mine are very excitable.

My wife is american and lives here in Ireland we generally try to get in a good position on the plane so we can get off quickly at the other end as she normally has to wait longer at passport control and it can cause us to miss busees etc at some airports

Me neither, I just bring a bag that fits under the seat in front and get on whenever there isn't any waiting time, hate queuing

Last week I flew from Copenhagen airport, people were queuing 45 minutes before boarding to get into the gate all that did was lead to another queue and then finally another queue to get onto the plane.

I just waited until there was 4 or 5 people left before I walked up from my seat.

Same getting on the plane, didn't get on the stairs until it was almost empty.

Going with kids though is a whole different story though, tbh I'd recommend an Airline with assigned seating and pay a bit more for it.

Flew to Spain this week and watching the drunken farengy trying to find a seat together because they had another pint rather than queue was both comical and cringeworthy at the same time. It made the €10 a seat reservation fee we'd paid seem very cheap.

No need to queue though if you're on your own.

Or in a Group ... find it a bit strange that people travelling together need to sit together and not talk to each other for 1-2 hours :D

Depends on the airport and what I'm doing at the other end. If they bus you to the plane then queuing is mostly pointless as you loose your place anyway. If I want to get out quickly at the other end then I'm perfectly happy to stand around queuing to get on the plane first, then I get off the plane first and out of the airport within a few minutes. If you've got bags to collect then again it's a waste of time though.

seemingly Ryanair have just (2 weeks ago) increased the number of pre-allocated seats on a flight to 8 rows which is according to them now a total of 45seats reservable.
