I'm wondering about the cheap audio amplifiers on ebay. I'm happy enough to fit it myself, i've already mapped out the connections in the car.

I'm curious has anyone bought one of these and fitted them?? Like is it going to give up after a week??

Kinda crazy question. It's like asking about 'one of these mp3 car stereo's'. It's all down to specific make/model. As for Chinese 'noname', some will last days some years. In my experience most will last about year. If I were you I would look towards used branded. Check adverts.ie plenty of them there for cheap.

Do yourself a favour and replace your stereo with a good quality branded one. If the speakers are ok then you will have the quality of sound you are looking for.

sorry - it was pretty ambiguos - there are a lot of generic chinese (i assume based on the listing address) made little amps, usually advertised as being 500w. A year might do it. My car is close to then end of its life and i just want something tide it over that wont break the bank. will keep an eye on adverts though.

I'm not sure i want to spend money beyond a few euro's - i see your point but i've ruled out fitting a decent stereo as i know the car doesn't have long left and the replacement will most likely have a system in it.

divide all ebay power ratings by 20 to get closer to the real figure!

oh yeah for sure. i' really only need about 20 - 30w for the car. they really are masters at finding ways they can call 40w's 500.
