    Has anyone
    a) Received an option to bid for economy to business upgrade on this route?
    b) Successfully bid on, and if so how much?

I'm trying to get a feel if the price is similar for each flight, gonna be doing the trip myself soon so quite interested in it if the price is reasonable.

Yes the price is similar,i bid €380 i think for auh-dub in January and the accepted it,you might not even get an email to enter the auction there is a few things they take into consideration like are you a silver/gold member or how many times you have flown with them.

I find that the price per leg for these upgrades is much worse than if you had bought business outright at the start.

Instant upgrades at the desk are about €450 pp but can really depend on your ticket type and I'm presuming membership status plays a roll too

450 is mental but I guess it's worth it

I bid about 450pp for an upgrade from AUH-DUB recently, and was accepted. We were flying back from Wellington, NZ, so were delighted, particularly after a long wait in Sydney. Lounge was amazing, they have a free spa there. Completely lie flat beds and amazing service. Probably the only time I'll fly business class, but loved it.

It was a multi leg trip so couldnt look at each individual segment.

Mind you I just check ed the same dates as I am travelling on and a business seat on the DUB-AUH leg is €1600!!!

I'd say about 350-400 is the most I would shell out. Should get me plenty of brownie points with my better half :-)
