Growing facial hair

I know this is a much discussed topic on here, and I know most people are saying that not much, if anything, can be done to promote hair growth.

I'm wondering though, whats "normal" in terms of facial hair growth?
I'll be 26 next month and my facial hair is kinda patchy and light hair. Is this going to be normal for me, or should I just keep going with the letting it grow to a certain lenght and trimming it down a bit?

I can grow hair everywhere but not much on the sides of face so I can't grow a full beard. i've made up for it my growing a moustache though, it is hard to maintain though having to shave every few days.
