    Hi All

I have a Dell Inspiron 6400 that is running on vista. The last few months it has been driving me mad.

It can run very slow and often gets stuck on a webpage for ages.

I have tried system restore but it has not helped.

The laptop is about 8 years old. I also have a problem with either the battery or power cable. Sometimes when I plug it in the battery does not charge at all. I get a message that the power supply can not be determined and to press F1 key. As a result of this the laptop will run slower :(

Could anyone advise what I should do with it?

I was thinking of taking it to a PC repair shop if anyone could recommend a place in Cork :)

Is it even worth spending money on it ?

    Thanks in advance

The life span of a laptop is about three years in a commercial organisation and I woult think four to five years max in a domestic situation. I would think hard before investing in a repair on an eight year old unit. An enthusiast could try an install of an upgraded OS possibly try Linux to get better performance, However if you are also having power supply/battery issues I would recommend replacement unit.
