Turkey is great value for money - outside the Eurozone so comparatively much cheaper than Ireland and even Spain/Portugal etc. For eg a decent 3 course meal out from a set menu, for two people, with drinks and tip would be about 40-50 TYL, which is about €17-22. You can't beat that. Beer is about €2-3 per pint, depending on whether you go local or imported. Spirits and mixers about €4 (more for imported, but the local stuff is quite decent), wine about €2-3 per glass, €8-10 per bottle. The buses are very cheap (as in 50c - 1.50 for most local journeys), taxis very reasonable. Good deals can be got from most travel agents, particularly if you can go last minute.

I would avoid late July or August however as it gets VERY hot (as in 40-50 degrees on occasion).
