i currently have a garmin edge 705 but am looking to upgrade, specifically i'd like something that would cover both cycling and hiking well. i've had a bit of a look around but would appreciate any advice you guys might have. ideally i'd like to be able to use my HR & cadence sensors but from what i can see this wouldn't allow me to see the data in real time on many of the hiking units. all thoughts welcome!

An 800/810 with a topo map? Not sure what extras you get on the hiking devices.

i think the extras on the hiking units are largely screen size plus sensitivity of the receiver. i had been thinking of the 810 with topo, only problem is i find the topo on my 705 fairly meh...that could just be the maps i downloaded though!

An 805 with opencycle maps would be worth a look. The difficulty with hiking units I imagine is connecting them to your bike no?

    mounts are available alright.

anyone got an opinion on edge 800 vs 810? i can't really see enough to justify the extra spend on the 810...
