Not sure if this is the right forum but, old style window came down on one of my fingernails last week and i thought the nail would fall off but still there. The nail is a bit loose and there is some white stuff under it, the top part of my finger is extremely painful. Has anyone experienced this?

Serious reply: Go to a doctor. I've had a similar experience and almost ended up with gangrene.

AH answer: What does it smell like OP?

I don't know how close it is to falling off but try soaking it in warm water and pull the nail off. It won't go back to normal by hanging off your finger but it should grow back if it's completely gone.

    But I'm no doctor.

You need to amputate your legs immediately!

You'll need to stick something in the nail to let the pus out and relieve the pressure.

Keep it washed, covered in germolene and bandage, relieve the puss first.Happened to me twice. Both grew back fine.

Yes a small infection can lead to something serious i guess. Doesnt smell, but there is pus and white under the nail. I guess this is to try and heal it as it was bleeding

Use a scalpel to remove one of your eyelids, then use the eyelid to cover the wound on your nail.

Did you pull the nail off yourself or just fell off?

More than likely not seeing as it was a window that crushed the finger :P

Rip off the nail with a pliers, then immerse in boiling water to kill the infection.

Or, go to a pharmacy and get free advice on whether or not you do need to see a doctor and get some antibiotics. Chances are the nail will fall off in time, and then regrow normally.

No medical advice on boards please, go see your doctor.

Also, this thread made me get sick in my mouth a little.
