How often should I service my watch

    Hi

I own a Tag Heuer Grand Carrera, namely this one

I was just wondering about service intervals

Bought it 3 years ago in June, so rang Weir's & Sheerans for quotes today. Just got a price from Sheeran's but the lady I spoke to in Weir's said they'd recommend a service every 4-5 years rather than 2-3. As the costs aren't exactly negligible I was wondering is this correct? On one hand I'd rather spend the €350-400 every 5 years rather than 3 but on the other I don't want to neglect my watch

A bit of googling suggests servicing other barnd automatics every 5 years and then others say service as and when it's needed (but I've had zero problems with it so no need to get it done from that perspective)

    Thanks for any replies

Personally speaking CS I'd go with the makers recommended service intervals, just like with your car. :) Would it hurt to do it more often? Probably not, but every proper take apart service carries some risk, so yea for your pocket and piece of mind I'd go with what they reckon. Doesn't hurt to shop around either.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

I fully agree on what Wibbs just said. I think the best practice is to follow the recommended service intervals. fg.

Also don't forget to check out watchrepairs.ie who are qualified to service tag heuer and would be considerably cheaper than sending it back to Tag themselves or sending it to Weirs or Paul Sheeran.

What exactly does this mean, are they authorised by the factory?
It doesn't say anything about it on the site.

LOL. You remind me of my mate who upgrades his car every two years. He has never seen the inside of an NCT center.

They have a qualified watch maker on site and have the tag heuer logo on their website. They come highly recommended by some posters in this forum so I would have no qualms handing my watch to them for a general service! Cheaper than an AD
