Rangefinder repair

Have any of you ever had to get a rangefinder repaired? I have a Bushnell V2 that's been water damaged. I've rang a few camera repair shops but they want to have a look at it first. I read on another forum that Bushnell will take it back for repair but the process can take a couple of months. Appreciate any help offered.
