PAYE Anytime - Confused!

    Hi There

I have been on PAYE Anytime over the past couple of days claiming tax credits etc etc..

I came across Rent Relief and had a look and feel I may be entitled to this. I put in all my details for the past couple of years and it came up that the following was due:
    2010: €2000
    2011: €1600
    2012: €1200

Now I know obviously I wouldn't get this amount, as from reading on the internet, €400 seems to be the highest amount you would actually get. I submitted the requests anyway and today received P21 Balancing Statements which show that the Final Result was Balanced.

I had a browse through it and there is nothing about the Rent Relief on any of the Balancing Statements for any of the years? Things like Flat Rate Expenses & Health Expenses are there, but not Rent Relief.

What does this mean? Am I not entitled to it? Will I hear anything else about it?

    Sorry, just very confused.

    Thanks

First question, on the p21s, does it show that you paid tax in those years as you need to have paid tax to get any back.

If you did pay tax and you tried to claim the relief online for the very first time, it may be that you need to claim it via a manual rent 1 form. This is because the relief is being phased out and brand new claims need to be reviewed.

    Hi

Thanks for the reply. Yes I paid tax in the three mentioned years. This would be the first time I have applied for the Rent Relief as I only saw it for the first time. Would it be added as tax credits to the current tax year maybe?

If you are entitled to rent tax credit for 2010, 2011, 2012 you would get a refund after claim is processed as each year would be reviewed again. You would also recieve tax credit for this year if you are still renting. If you are due any refunds revenue can check that you have not underpaid tax in preceding years before paying out refund.

So even though the P21 for 2010,2011,2012 says Balanced - I could still hear something back about it? As Rent Relief is not mentioned anywhere on any of the forms even though Flay Rate Exp & Health Exps are?? Thanks for reply.

SOrry for hijacking the thread, but I am also struggling with PAYE anytime.

I only worked on a 6 week internship over the money and I am due a refund as I'm under the threshold. Where on PAYE Anytime do I reclaim this?

    Thanks :)

I am not familiar with PAYE anytime but you can ring revenue on locall number 1890 333 425 (Dublin region), even if you were living in other region its usually not a problem. They can usually sort out your tax there and then, if not they will send you out forms if required or give you advice on what you need to do to get refund.
