Firstly, My main aim of the post is to find out if the guy is ok. While only running a short while, I definitely haven't and doubt I will ever see anything like it again.

As we were running down O'Connell street on the GPO side, just past the spire, a junkie on a bike went head on at a decent speed square into a guy who was running beside me. It was a sickening thud and although the guy tried to continue running I doubt the poor lad got far.

While such an incident raises many questions I'm just sending out a post to see if he does be on here and to find out if he is OK?

Most guys on bikes are junkies ;)

As I was going past the same spot someone threw in a bicycle U-lock full force into the crowd, hit a guy in front of me in the knee, I think he had to drop out.

As I was turning from O'Connell St to Eden Quay, some little gurrier-head jumped out in the middle of the road for the craic. A runner shouts at him, pushes him over and sends him flying, putting him on his arse!

That bike accident sounds terrible, I hope the guy is ok.
PaulieC and I were marshalling at about 6K where the road turned onto Pearse St. It was difficult holding back some of the pedestrians..... A lot of locals were quite vociferous:) about the fact they'd have to wait a few minutes.
On the other hand the runners were very appreciative and we got the odd passer-by who joined in encouraging.

you can't beat the locals and their sense of entitlement "let me cross, I live in the flats and you've no right to stop me", "you can't stop me crossing" etc. etc. but it was mostly lighthearted.
More surprised at the complete lack of twisted ankles at our corner due to the massive crowds going through where the road narrowed and the pretty big potholes in the road.

There were a couple of potentially leg breaking potholes on our section heading straight through the intended race line. We made the executive decision to use the barriers to keep the runners on the left and avoid the potholes...I had been wondering if there would be any potholes on other parts of the course....Makes you realise hown many roadworks really need to be done in the city centre...
